WAM CAPITAL LLP (“WAM”) was established in late 2005, then trading as Wine Asset Managers LLP, by Miles Davis and Will Beck. The company attained Part IV Permission with the then Financial Services Authority in the UK in May 2006 and is currently authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in the UK. The partners have an excellent combined employment background in investment funds, research analysis and fundraising. They have often invested in the companies for whom they have helped raise equity financing.

Miles is responsible for sales and marketing at WAM. Miles began his career in 1984 in the London Stock Exchange before moving on to Asian equity markets. In the late 80s he became directly involved in the creation, structuring, marketing and trading of investment funds, covering all emerging markets. Towards the end of his capital markets career he was co-Head of Bear Stearns Investment Funds team and then MD of the highly successful Investment Funds Department at Teather & Greenwood. For the last decade, he has co-managed WAM’s wine funds and has been responsible for sales and marketing, trading and settlement. Bordeaux is his favourite wine region but has a house in southern Burgundy. As well as wine, he has invested in various investment funds for nearly 30 years. He is experienced in angel investing and is invested in WAM sponsored companies.

Will is primarily focused on private company equity fundraising at WAM. Prior to co-founding the company with Miles in 2005, Will had been a corporate and equity research analyst since 1993. He began his financial career with Cazenove & Co, and spent six years in the Far East, where he became Head of Regional Utilities Research for SG Securities in Asia. He spent the six years prior to setting up WAM as a senior analyst at PwC. Will has strong skills in contemporary equity investment analysis and corporate research and is responsible for all research capability and output at WAM. Will is an active investor in investment funds as well as direct equity holdings, including companies where WAM has acted as fundraiser.
